Steyer Drops Out After Biden Secures South Carolina

Just minutes ago, Tom Steyer officially dropped out the 2020 race for president. Steyer spent a lot of money in South Carolina in an attempt to rejuvenate support his campaign, but it only resulted in a third-place finish. Joe Biden won South Carolina with nearly 50% of the vote. Steyer told supporters today how he “said if I didn’t see a path to winning that I’d suspend my campaign, and honestly I can’t see a path where I can win the presidency.”

Steyer was known for his ambitious policies on tackling climate change and addressing racial justice. Steyer was one of the first candidates to outwardly express support for impeaching President Trump. He supported expanding Visas to immigrants, establishing background checks on gun buyers, and creating clean energy solutions.
