Will Trump Be Removed From Office?

Fox says no, CNN says yes. What does ThatPoliticalKid say? Probably no unless the Republican majority Senate votes to remove President Trump. Just 3 presidents in the entire history of the United States have been impeached: Andrew Johnson, Bill Clinton, and now Donald Trump. The definition of being impeached however is different from being removed from office- impeachment is only the formal accusation that the House of Representatives puts in place.

Today, the Senate officially accepted the articles of impeachment. Adam Schiff, head of the White House Intelligence Committee, read in a statement to the Senate that "President Trump has abused the power of the presidency in a manner subversive of the Constitution." Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell believes the trial will begin next Tuesday, January 21.

The trial was delayed a month by Nancy Pelosi, as she held the articles of impeachment up until this week. The House impeached Trump on counts of abuse of power and for obstruction of Congress, with the vote being entirely based on party lines.
